Could I Be A Model If I Am Not 6 Feet Tall And A Size 2?

A young lady asked me once: could I be a model if I'm not 6 feet tall and a size 2? My answer was, yes you can be a fashion model if you target yourself to the other model categories that do not require you to be 6 feet tall and a size 2. There are many modeling categories that most ladies know nothing about. These categories have broader physical requirements and you can still make a 6-figure yearly income.
You won't be on the cover of major fashion magazines, but you can still travel, meet fun people and meet influential people as you make a steady income. These other modeling categories have a longer career life span than the "High Fashion" category you hear about in the media.
The key is finding the right agency that caters to your "type" is to start ignoring the high fashion modeling agencies in NYC, Miami and Los Angeles. What do you do if you're an attractive women who is under 5'9", you wear a size 2 to 8, you're 18 to 30 years old, and you have a burning desire to be a fashion model?
You probably think your dream of becoming a fashion model, traveling, and meeting exciting people is near zero. That would be true if you target becoming a High Fashion model to appear in Elle, Vogue, or some other High Fashion magazines. The fashion model industry has changed in some positive ways. At one-time, if you didn't fit the 5'9"and size 0-2 mark... just forget about it. There were no agencies to represent you. But, today, things are much different. The industry now has room (and is looking) for ladies with a "natural" look and a "reasonable" size.
So when you ask yourself, could I be a model, you should realize that your chances are greater now than they were 20 years ago. A big plus these days are ladies with intelligence, speaking skills, a good attitude (no divas allowed), some talent (acting, dancing, singing, and the ability to follow instructions.
Is this you? Well, the modeling agencies, talent agencies, and television agencies are looking for you if you fit these criteria. Today, this is the sweet spot for ladies to break into fashion modeling. You won't be on the cover of Vogue, Elle, or Sports Illustrated magazine -- but why do you think it's necessary to be on the cover of a major magazine to be a successful fashion model?
Whenever you want to know, could I be a model, you should also assess your other skills besides just your beauty. Can you speak well? Do you have knowledge of fabrics and stitching techniques? Do you have acting skills? The modeling world is looking for more than just a pretty face. Your inner skills matter as well.
